Details
I specialize in editing and proofing academic works, with a particular focus on the humanities. I am specifically interested in essays, articles and research projects that offer a critical appraisal or analyses of media (particularly speculative/science fiction and solarpunk or adjacent topics) and social issues through a lens of feminist, queer, affect, or ecocritical theory.
I have 10+ years of writing and editing experience in academia; I also have experience working with multilingual writers to polish their spoken and written expression of English, and have been employed as a nonfiction editor for various online publications.
Academic publishing can be an arduous process, and the “publish or perish” imperative can be exhausting for graduate students, postdocs, and non-tenured and tenured faculty alike. Whether you are working on an article, chapter, proposal, essay, blog post, or other web content, I can help bolster your confidence in your own ability to research, write, and deliver polished and publishable copy. You can be the most brilliant researcher in your field and yet if you are unable to communicate clearly and in a way that is easily understandable, that will not matter.
I offer structural (developmental), stylistic and copy editing, as well as proofreading. Visit Work with me for more detailed information about the services I offer, and contact me through the form on this site and we’ll discuss your project further.
Rates
I charge several cents per word on a per-project basis.
I will ask you to send me a sample of your writing as part of our contract negotiation for editing; it give me an idea of what I’m working with, and it gives you an idea of what you’ll be getting if you hire me. I offer a follow-up video call to agree on contract terms, if necessary.
I adhere to the rate guidelines as set out by the Editorial Freelancers Association; keep in mind that the EFA is American with quoted rates in US dollars, so prices will vary according to the currency that you use.
